Anonymous said...: The process worked ok for us, but what sold our property was a referal of a neighbor to the eventual buyer.
One warning, we received three "offers" for our house sight unseen, from people in England! These were scams that were designed to get us to provide money, before they finally "paid"! Watch for that.; Thursday, March 27, 2008 5:59:00 PM

Greg said...: Buying a property that uses by owner method is no less scary than working with an agent. In any sales process the buyer and seller should obtain the following items:
1- Market comparables to understand prices;
2- A professional, independent appraisal (which all banks/mortgage companies will do);
3- A professional, independent inspection (both parties should get one to ensure every one understand the condition of the house);
4- Each party should have their own legal real estate attorney or title company to review and complete the paperwork.

Again - whether you a buying a house with RE agent or direct from the seller, you should get these 4 things done to make sure you safely purchase any property.
